HAZRAT IMAM HUSSAIN (R.T.A)
After the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali ''r.t.a" Hazrat Iman Hussan but very soon he withdrew in the favour of Hazrat Amir Muaviya "r.t.a''. Yazid was the son of Hazrat Ameer Muaviya "r.t.a". He became the caliph after the death of his father. Yazid was not a good person when he became Caliph he tried to get "Hazrat Imam Hussain Baiat, which he refused to do. At that time the capital of the Muslims, was Kufa. The peopleof Kufa wanted to make Hazrat Imam Hussain "r.t.a"
their caliph.They requested him to come to Kufa to and assured him of full help and co-operation.
Hazrat Imam Hussain "r.t.a" along with his family and some followers setoff for Kufa.Coming to know this Yazid appinted a cruel Governor at Kufa.When Hazrat Imam Hussain "r.t.a" reached a place called karbala at the the bank of river "Firat" they were stopped by the army of Yazid.Army also closed the water suppley to them and wished to get Hazrat Imam Hussain Baiat by force but he was not prepared to move an inch from his faith.
At last on 10th of the Muharram, Yazid's army attacked Imam's party. All the members of Imam's party were thirst of tree days in the desert area but they fought with thefaith. One by one they fell and laid down their lives for a noble cause. Hazrat Imam Hussain "r.t.a." fought bravely but showers of arrouws made him seriously wounded. The Imam fell down his horse.He knelt down before God, but shier beheaded him in that position.
The history of world has no example of such a sacrifice.They memory or his martyrdom is celebrated every year on the 10th of Muharram.....
